Special edition ‘Higher Education for Sustainability’ Edited by Gerd Michelsen
The book series ‘Higher Education for Sustainability’ provides information and experiences on the question of how sustainable development may be applied as a guiding principle for university education, and how it may be implemented in sustainability-related research activities. A variety of different political, methodological, and didactical approaches are intended to form an intricate mosaic of ongoing activities from around the world in the field of higher education. The series aims at stimulating international cooperation and intercultural dialogue on higher education for sustainable de¬velop¬ment. It is edited by Prof. Dr. Gerd Michelsen, holder of the UNESCO Chair ‘Higher Education for Sustainable Development’, based at the Leuphana Uni¬versity of Lüneburg (www.leuphana.de/infu/chair).
'Higher Education' ist integraler Bestandteil der Reihe: Innovationen in den Hochschuleb - Nachhaltige Entwickung. Die vorliegende Publikation ist Band 6, "Higher Education".
The search for sustainable futures calls forward a cultural change process. The cultural dimension of (un)sustainability stands at the core of the global crisis, pointing at the roots of unsustainable development and exploring alternatives. While sustainability offers an inspiring research field for artists and other cultural actors, the arts and other cultural sectors constitute experimental, reflexive and transformative fields for the advancement of sustainability.
